April 27, 2012Getting tired of the same old faces at Free Sofia Tour? A new refreshment wave is headed your way! 13 volunteer-guides-in-training will start the third round (the last one) of the tough but exciting process of becoming a Free Sofia Tour guide.
13 seems to be our lucky number.
We started Free Sofia Tour on Friday, 13th of August 2010 – without a single thought of bad karma. We wanted the same success for Free Varna Tour, so we started the project on Friday, 13th of April 2012. Now 13 young and passionate people passed our exam in Sofia and are willing to meet you.
Out of 44, only 25 started the second part of the training. Out of 25, only 17 came to the exam day. Out of 17, only 13 passed.
All of them are full of energy and charisma, neat and well prepared. Among them we have some marketing experts, students and young professionals in law, HR experts, IT experts, a geologist and a garden designer! 4 boys and 9 girls are ready to feel the real thrill of meeting guests from all around the world (more than 107 countries so far).
One of our trainees got so inspired that wrote us a poem (Thank you so much! It’s so kind of you):
The Free Sofia Tour is here every day,
You just have to show up and don’t need to pay.
In snow or rain, in fog or sun,
We’re doing our best to make you have fun.
It takes two hours, or maybe longer
To show you the city and make your legs stronger.
We won’t be just your guide but your local friend,

Our trainees had to learn a huge amount of knowledge that our team has gathered about Sofia so far and of course – they all had to be able to speak in front of big crowds with shining eyes. The exam is actually a simulation of a real tour. 13 made it through to the final third round in their quest to become Free Sofia Tour guides. Expect to see them a lot around the center of Sofia for the next few weeks as they will start doing real tours as part of their training. But play time is over!
