Interview with Peter & Kristian

Highlights in English:

• Peter realized the importance of the Free Sofia Tour when people started telling him: “We read that there’s no reason to visit Sofia but actually it’s one of the nicest places we have visited.”
• Peter: “It’s a lot of fun, it’s not just a tour around Sofia.”
• Peter: “The only continent we haven’t had guests from is Antarctica – we expect a penguin to tag along very soon”
• Peter: “Other places like Budapest, Berlin and Prague use their socialist symbols as a tourist attraction. They are also a part of our history – dark but valuable. Instead, we have almost deleted 50 years of our history.”
• Peter: “We aim to show not only the clean, the beautiful and the shiny stuff in our city but also other things connected with it. For example, we often get asked about corruption. We give straight answers because people want to see the real city.”
• Peter: “We divide our guests in smaller groups – it’s important to be able to communicate with each guest.”
• Peter: “We don’t just show around tourists. We show around friends.”
• Kristian: “The idea is to get to know our guests. They also want to see what kind of people Bulgarians are. We see Sofia through the eyes of our guests – we are often surprised when they say amazing things about the city.”
• Kristian: “We want to open the city. Bulgarians may be complaining a lot about Sofia but actually the city has tons of interesting things to offer.”
