My Destination Launches in Bulgaria!
February 10, 2013Love or Wine? February 14th the Bulgarian Way
February 14, 2013Recently, our small fatherland became preoccupied with the creation of the new brand and logo of Bulgarian tourism, that’s why our friend Andrey from Tourist Sites of Bulgaria & Andrey-andreev.com decided to take a quick peek into the world of logos. He started with our neighbors, continuing throughout the Balkans. Here’s the original post in Bulgarian. We publish the images, videos together with his commentary:
“It’s Saturday morning, but throughout the time before noon I’ve been fighting the sticky feeling that it’s Sunday. My neighbour and his drill have been quite active since very early. I suppose you have neighbors as well, so you also enjoy this sort of early morning music. I’ve always thought this must be included in Bulgaria’s advertisement video: traditional home repairs on a Saturday morning. I have nothing better to do today than cleaning or traveling, but I have planned to stay home and travel in the virtual reality by studying the different logos of Balkan countries, as well as selecting some new destinations to visit, for when I find someone to fund my endeavors.“
Kosovo:
“To create its advertising campaign, Kosovo hired the giant Saatchi & Saatchi, who are responsible for a large part of the Sony and Toyota commercials. To provide itself with this pleasure, the little country has parted with 5.7 million euro for the first year. Check out the Saatchi & Saatchi video“:

“I prefer a different one, but I don’t know whether it comes from the same company:“

“The slogan tries to stress that Kosovo is the youngest country in Europe, and the same goes for its people as well, with an average age of 26. Every color used for the letters has a specific meaning. Green symbolizes the green fields, blue symbolizes sky and water (and is also the background color of the new flag of Kosovo), and then the red symbolizes the bricks that make up the buildings. I cannot miss the previous logo as well. I’ll admit I have no idea what’s attractive about Kosovo, and neither the logo, nor the video were helpful at all.“
Albania:
“Another one of my favorite destinations – Albania or Shqiperia, as the locals call it, with its 50 km/h out-of-town speed limit. I was curious to learn what they have chosen for their logo and slogan. You can really fall in love with this Mediterranean land of beautiful beaches and gorgeous mountains.
Official videos of 2007 and 2009.”

Bosnia and Herzegovina:
“Bosnia and Herzegovina is unknown to me, but I intend to fix this mistake soon. Their logo contains mountains and sea, while their slogan urges us to „Enjoy Life“. It looks like their video hasn’t changed in the past six years, but I like it. They have put a few musicians on a boat, you hear nice music, here and there you see sheep, other stuff and beautiful scenery“:

Montenegro
“Montenegro – “Wild Beauty” – mountains, beautiful buildings and a flying wild girl in red throughout the video. I hope they’re not trying to imply that their ladies are light… in weight, not behavior.”

Croatia:
“Let’s conclude the list of Balkan countries with the “European Destinations of Excellence” – Croatia and it’s logo of sea and grass. And two videos, one of them not really catchy, but the other one…”
[embedplusvideo height=”269″ width=”430″ standard=”http://www.youtube.com/v/rudJEvJHF0I?fs=1″ vars=”ytid=rudJEvJHF0I&width=430&height=269&start=&stop=&rs=w&hd=0&autoplay=0&react=1&chapters=&notes=” id=”ep2765″ /]
“I’ll finish this with the “Ode to Joy”, anthem of Europe and music background to the Croatian video. It is composed by Beethoven (The Ninth Symphony), the lyrics are courtesy of Friedrich Schiller and date from the 18th century, and the performance itself is by Croatian cellist Ana Rucner. The video was awarded the Das Goldene Stadttor, which basically is the Oscar of the advertising industry. You cannot help but fall in love with Croatia, their new video and all this beauty. It is written down in my notebook as a must-do destination. Next up: a trip with streetcar 11, and then the world of Western Europe (I hope I don’t forget to include insular countries as well). Don’t miss this video, really!“
