Sofia Design Week 2013

Summer has finally arrived in Sofia. 30+ degrees, burning sun and weekend escapades to the woods. Holiday mood is taking over but it’s still too early for vacation, the season has just started. No need to worry though. There are still some things that can take your mind off the long awaited holidays and show you a good time in Sofia. One of those things is Sofia Design Week (SDW) which kicked off on 18th June with its kids programme. The days between 18th and 30th June will be filled with various events. You will have the chance to enjoy numerous exhibitions, workshops, discussions, talks, screenings, parties, book openings and events for children. Sofia Design Week (21 – 30 June) is an international festival for design and visual culture that takes place every year in June. Фрий София Тур на форума за маркетинг и реклама „ADmeUP”

На 12, 13 и 14-ти април в Културен център „20:19” се състоя ADmeUP форум, където Фрий София Тур взе участие. Събитието срещна маркетинг специалисти с български неправителствени организации.  Под формата на работилници участниците на форума имаха на свой ред възможността да допринесат за популяризиране на целите и идеите на представените неправителствени организации (НПО). Откриването на форума започна с изложба на рекламни плакати от България и света за периода 1950-1990г. и продължи с прожекции на най-добрите социални видео реклами през последните години. Вторият ден беше посветен на презентации на маркетинг специалистите и представянето на неправителствените организации. След като всяка НПО разказа накратко за своите маркетинг проблеми, дойде време за сформиране на екипи и начало на работилниците. Групата на Фрий София Тур генерира прекрасни идеи за популяризиране на организацията. Google Street View in Bulgaria

Google Street View launched in Bulgaria. Besides warming up for our tours by strolling the streets of Bullgarian cities, you can visit some of the best museums and natural sights in Bulgaria through the “Discover Bulgaria” collection. Boyko from Free Sofia Tour Association talked at the opening in Grand Hotel Sofia about how Google Street view could be used by tourists, local tourist organizations and Bulgarians abroad. Among the special guests were Mr. Todor Chobanov – Sofia Deputy Mayor for Culture, Education, Sport and Google representatives.

17th Sofia International Film Festival

  Today the biggest international cinema event in Bulgaria kicks off. For the 17th consecutive year Sofia Film Fest (Sofia International Film Festival) will gather the lovers of great filmmaking. The 17th edition of the festival will take place from March 7 to March 17 in Sofia. There will also be an additional programme from March 18 till March 24 in Sofia, Bourgas and Plovdiv. Furthermore, viewers will be able to enjoy screenings that are part of the festival up until April 7. More than 200 feature, documentary and shorts films are included in this year’s programme. What’s new? Well, for the first time there will be a prize awarded for the Best Bulgarian short film and the SIFF audience will have the chance to experience 3D screenings of National Geographic productions. The official opening of the festival will take place on March 7 with the premiere of the documentary Vitosha by Lyubomir Mladenov. World in logos (part II: The Balkans)

Recently, our small fatherland became preoccupied with the creation of the new brand and logo of Bulgarian tourism, that’s why our friend Andrey from Tourist Sites of Bulgaria & Andrey-andreev.com decided to take a quick peek into the world of logos. He started with our neighbors, continuing throughout the Balkans. Here’s the original post in Bulgarian. We publish the images, videos together with his commentary: “It’s Saturday morning, but throughout the time before noon I’ve been fighting the sticky feeling that it’s Sunday. My neighbour and his drill have been quite active since very early. I suppose you have neighbors as well, so you also enjoy this sort of early morning music. I’ve always thought this must be included in Bulgaria’s advertisement video: traditional home repairs on a Saturday morning. Sofia. A fire and a shooting have occurred close to the building of the Courts of Justice in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, FOCUS News Agency reports.   Cold weather and holidays can’t stop us. Да помогнем на Камен от StartUP

Първото събитие, на което някога сме представяли Free Sofia Tour, е StartUP конференцията през 2010 г. От там е и първата снимка, която качихме на нашата Facebook страница. Това нямаше да се случи без помощта на един човек – Камен Сарафов, който е един от моторите зад фондация StartUP. Сега той има нужда от нашата помощ, за да се пребори с диагнозата Сарком на Юинг. Нека заедно му помогнем! Знаете, че нашата организация се издържа с дарения. Веднъж месечно всички дарения, събрани на туровете ни в София, Пловдив и Варна, отиват за благотворителност. Избираме много внимателно каузите, които да подкрепим, и честно казано по редица причини рядко подкрепяме набиране на средства за лечение. Сега обаче става въпрос за един от нас и няма как да останем безучастни. Няколко човека от екипа ни вече подкрепиха лично Камен, който имаше рожден ден вчера (16.12.2012).
