София – “Град на киното” и един по-малко известен кино фестивал
May 4, 2015The 365: Communist Tour of Sofia
May 11, 2015About 3 years ago our Association had many ideas for new and different tours in Sofia.
On our daily free walking tour we keep getting asked the same questions:
- what is the typical food?,
- how do you live?,
- why do you nod differently?,
- how much is the average salary and rent?
- are there Nobel Prize winners from Bulgaria and so on.
So, we figured it out (quite fast) – a Culture Tour is needed.
This is when we started to work on the new tour, we started to research, to attend folklore festivals, to speak to professors of ethnography, to learn new interesting facts about Bulgarian culture, in order to finally put the whole puzzle together. We decided to concentrate on the things that distinguish the Bulgarians and our culture from the rest of the Balkans. This way we formed our top 10 most important things everybody should know about Bulgaria and you will have the chance to experience all of them on our new Culture tour:
Culture Tour: How do Bulgarian traditional clothes look like?
Culture tour: How do Bulgarians dance?
Who are the most famous Bulgarians and what has Bulgaria contributed to the world?
Culture tour: What is the Bulgarian traditional food/cuisine?
Culture tour: Why do Bulgarians use the Cyrillic alphabet?
What are the Bulgarian traditional customs/national holidays?
How does traditional Bulgarian music sound and which are the traditional Bulgarian instruments?
Culture tour: What is it like to live in Bulgaria nowadays?
What is the most precious symbol of Bulgaria?
Culture tour: What do Bulgarians drink?
We believe that people understand and remember stuff when they are involved in an experience, rather than when they just hear stories. This is why in addition when you attend the 365: Culture tour you will experience Bulgaria through all of your senses:
- See Bulgaria through our clothes
- Hear Bulgaria through our music
- Smell Bulgaria through our spices and our precious rose Damascena
- Taste Bulgaria through our traditional cuisine
- Touch Bulgaria when dancing the horo
- Feel the spiritual energy in Bulgaria
