Hello, lovely people! It’s November and winter is just around the corner :) . This is the time of the year when people start spending more and more time indoors. If you too are wondering how to spend some quality time in Sofia when it’s cold and wet outside, we are here to help! Below we have prepared a list of interesting events happening in November to help you dive into our city’s cultural life. So lets get started:



Event: “Agitato” Sofia Chamber Music Festival

Dates: 1 – 29 November

Location: Several locations in Sofia, more info here  

A one of a kind festival, which aims to give the stage to young music ensembles without focusing on a particular instrument or epoch and offering a balance between instrumental and vocal art.

Music style: Classical music, Chamber music, Contemporary music




Event: ACT Independent Theatre Festival

Dates: 11 – 17 November

Location: Several locations

The Seventh Edition of ACT Festival of Independent Theater focuses on the contemporary theater, dance and performance – as a reflection of the transience in contemporary arts. From 11th to 17th November, the event will be declared open (temporary), hurrying to seize the present moment, blurring with its virtual reflection. For one week in November, Sofia will be filled with moment-dissolving events from the Bulgarian and foreign contemporary performance scenes. ACT arrives with 8 Bulgarian and 4 foreign performances (from Germany, England, France and Israel).

All of the performances will be held or subtitled in English.

Event: Ruth Kileva and Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra

Dates: 16 November

Location: Bulgaria Hall, Sofia

Controversial Bulgarian singer-songwriter Ruth Koleva will be presenting her new album “Confidence. Truth” together with Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and featuring other Bulgarian artists.

Music style: R&B, Soul, Pop music.

Event: Mihaela Fileva Live Band

Dates: 18 November

Location: Sofia Live Club

Mihaela Fileva is one of the most popular young Bulgarian singers. Her career began in 2011, after her participation in the Bulgarian edition of X-Factor. Mihaela will play live at one of our city’s trendies urban venues with her live band. Obviously:)

Event: Kinomania - film festival

Dates: 16 – 30 November

If you are a movie addict like us, then Kinomania is just the thing you’re looking for. Kinomania is the most diverse film festival in Bulgaria. In this edition of the festival we will see some of the top Bulgarian and foreign movies from the last two years, as well as children movies, documentaries and classics.

Event: International Festival for Ethnografical movies

Dates: 14 – 18 November

Location: Cinema Vlaikova

Another option for the moviegoers – the International Festival of Ethnographic Film. You will have the chance to watch some unique ethnographic films that will introduce you to intriguing topics like religion, contemporary shamanism, spirituality, ancient rituals, life after death.

Event: German Christmas bazar (Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt)

Dates: 18 November – 30 December

Location: Alexander Batemberg Square

For the seventh year in a row, Sofia is hosting  the biggest Christmas bazar in Bulgaria, in line with the Weinachtsmarkt frenzy all over Europe. You will be able to munch on some delicious German and Bulgarian foods, shop for souvenirs and drink a cup of fragrant mulled wine to get yourself warm.



Event: Beloslava Live – Funky Winter Edition

Dates: 23 November

Location: Carrusel Club, Sofia

The Queen of Bulgarian jazz is back to perform for her numerous fans, adding a hint of funk to her show. The glossy Carrousel club at Rakovski Str. will host the diva and her live band. Don’t miss the chance to hear the velvety voice and the gentle rhythm of Beloslava’s music, while you’re in town.

Music style: Pop, Jazz, Funk, Neo Soul



Event: Mystical Rythm – spectacle by Ansamble Chinary

Dates: 28 November

Location: Hall 1, National Palace of Culture

Enjoy one of the hottest Bulgarian professional folk dance troupes, their fiery music and songs. While in Bulgaria, don’t miss seeing what Bulgarians do best – dancing and singing. More information: www.chinaryfolkdance.com or here
